About Next Generation Ministries
Youth and children are not just the church of tomorrow, but they are a vital part of what God is doing in His church today! In order to see the church in Canada thrive, we must be committed to continually reaching, discipling and releasing young people into ministry and mission. NGM assists churches, ministries and families in reaching and discipling the current and next generation for Christ. Multiplying disciple-making leaders is at the forefront of NGM’s vision.
History
In 1964, what is now Next Generation Ministries (NGM) was created to assist local churches in their effort to engage, save, empower and train young disciples. Glenn Richmond held the very first CA Convention (Christ Ambassadors Youth Convention). Kid programs (such as crusaders) as well as AIM teams were created and were all part of the early days. Several new programs and events were developed over time. The largest annual event was CA Convention, then renamed Youth Convention in the 80’s and was hosted by large churches every May long weekend. Youth Convention was well supported and quickly grew. It was then moved to small hockey arenas in the early 90’s. Over the years the event has moved from Vernon to Kamloops (Sport Mart Place) from 1995-2006 then to Chilliwack Prospera Center in 2007 and 2008, Langley Events Centre from 2009-2010. During this process the event was opened up to all denominations and to youth and young adults and was renamed Historymaker (HM). Currently Historymaker is held in Abbotsford at the Abbotsford Entertain and Sports Centre. As our most catalytic platform each year, HM focuses on inspiring and empowering young people towards leadership and a radical call to creatively live out the mission of God.
From regional conferences to relational coaching, NGM is thinking big and acting personal. NGM is working together towards building The Kingdom and fostering a fresh culture of relational-disciple focused leadership. Relational leaders are healthy leaders, and healthy leaders are multiplying leaders!
Lets inspire and empower this generation together, and lets multiply!
“We will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done… Then they would put their trust in God” Psalm 78:4,7 NIV.
